Baby dedication
If you are a parent with a child under the age of 36 months, we invite you to take a class and stand before the church to dedicate yourself as parents and your child to God.

Baby dedication

Twice a year, we offer a special portion of the weekend service that is designed to give parents a meaningful time to dedicate their children, 36 months of age or younger, to God.

We require a class in advance to help you, as parents, really understand the full meaning of this dedication. Registration occurs in advance, and spots fill quickly. Watch your weekend worship program for when registration starts.

Baptism
We believe that baptism is an outward testimony of an inward experience, to publicly tell the world that you are a follower of Jesus Christ.

Baptism

Prior to the actual baptism service, we will hold a brief class for anyone considering being baptized. The baptism class discusses the purpose of water baptism and answers questions you may have.

Visit the Information Counter during weekend services to learn when the next baptism class will be.

Becoming One Premarital Class
Start planning for a successful marriage as you plan for a successful wedding. Take this two-day course in preparation for the big day.

Becoming One Premarital Class

You reserved the church, thoughtfully decided who to invite, tirelessly picked out the invitations, fretted over who would wear what and woke up in the middle of the night wondering what you had forgotten.

That takes care of the wedding. What about the marriage preparation part?

Becoming One consists of two parts.

1)  Weekend Experience: Offered several times throughout the year,  Friday night and Saturday in-class instruction is combined with couple interaction and workbook exercises from "Saving Your Marriage Before It Starts."

2)  Mentor Connection:   Couples take the PREPARE relationship assessment
and are connected with a marriage mentor from Northview.  Couples meet with the marriage mentor up to six times during the course of their engagement.

Becoming One is required for all couples getting married at Northview.
However, any couple considering marriage is welcome to be a part of it.

Discipleship Walk
Join us for three days of life transformation through talks, group discussions, worship, entertainment and fellowship.

Discipleship Walk

Imagine replacing your busy, sometimes hectic life with three days of growing closer to God. Through talks, group discussions, worship and chapel times, entertainment and fellowship, you come away better understanding what it means to be a disciple of Christ.

The Discipleship Walk began at Northview in 1989, and since that time has continued to grow with both adult and youth weekends. The Discipleship Walk is designed for those who have made a commitment to Jesus Christ as their personal Savior.

The Discipleship Walk strives to provide the setting where individuals can clearly see and understand God's love and in turn, grow in their responses to that great love. The first full day speaks to God reaching out to us. It's a reminder of God's longing for a relationship with us and of our responsibility to build a foundation for that relationship.

The second day explores both the challenges and the benefits of discipleship in today's world. It is ultimately a day of encouragement, and one in which the participants get to build relationships with each other and experience Christian community in tangible ways.

The third day centers upon preparing for discipleship in the world in which we live. Participants are sent back to where they came from with the desire, knowledge and tools necessary to make a difference in their world.

Upcoming Walks:

Men’s Walk – March 1-4 and then for 2012 another opportunity will be Nov. 1-4

Women’s Walk – March 8-11 with another opportunity on Nov 8 - 11

Youth Walk – Sept. 1-3

Hope for a day
Designed specifically for women who have been affected by another person's compulsive sexual behavior, our ministry starts the recovery process to living a life full of peace and fulfillment.

Hope for a day

We believe that we can only help others once we have started the road to recovery ourselves.

Hope for a day is a 12-step recovery program for those whose lives have been affected by another person's compulsive sexual behavior. As an adaptation of Alcoholics Anonymous and Al-Anon, we have a program for our spiritual development, no matter what your religious beliefs might be.

We meet weekly to share our experience, strength and hope through working through the 12 steps. The goal is to live our lives more serenely and in deeper fulfillment, day by day.

Prayer ministry
God's will is for us all to be in prayer, but sometimes it is a challenge to develop and sustain a full and healthy prayer life. The Northview Prayer Ministry Team provides opportunities for you to receive prayer.

Prayer ministry

We recognize from 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18 that it is God’s will for all to be in prayer and being a Christian does not disqualify us from going through difficult times. We all have times when we need someone to lift us up in prayer to help us navigate through the storms.

Weekend Prayer
We have a member of the Prayer Team available in the Chapel to support you in prayer following the 5 p.m. service on Saturday and between the two Sunday morning services.

Tuesday Night Prayer
Every Tuesday night, we gather together in the Chapel from 7 - 8 p.m. (you may arrive or leave at any time).  Those who have a passion for prayer are invited to come as we pray for others.  This is also an opportunity for those who have prayer requests; these can be presented to the entire group or privately with an individual Prayer Team member.

Prayer Partners
Do you have a need?  We can pair a Prayer Team member with you based upon your area of need to confidentially support you.  Contact Rick Thompson, Prayer Ministry Director, at rick.thompson@northviewchurch.us

Starting Point
Getting connected in a big church can be overwhelming and intimidating, so we designed this three-week course especially for those who are new to Northview and want to learn more.

Starting Point

New to the church and want to learn more?

Getting connected in a large church can seem intimidating at first. We understand that. We’ve all been there ourselves.

So we designed Starting Point as way for you to get to know Northview in a laid-back setting. The class lasts three weeks, and during those three weeks, you’ll have the chance to get a tour of our campus, ask your questions, experience our Good Neighbor serving opportunities and find out who Northview is.

In addition, the class will have the chance to enjoy dinner with Lead Pastor Steve Poe and his wife, Sandy, at their house.

Classes are 11 a.m. and start the first Sunday of every other month. Spaces are limited, so sign up early to reserve your spot.

We can’t wait to see you there!

SHAPE
If you ever wonder what gifts God has given you or how to use them to engage in your community, church and world, this is a great course to start that process.

SHAPE

SHAPE stands for Spiritual gifts, Heart, Abilities, Personality and Experience.

In order to connect with God, church and community, it’s important to be aware of and utilize the unique gifts God has given us. The SHAPE Class will assist you in discovering, affirming or reconsidering how God has uniquely “shaped” you.

The purpose of the class is not only to help you discover, but to understand your God-given gifts and passions. The class will also help you identify your spiritual SHAPE as well as assist you in finding opportunities available through Northview to put your gifts and passions to use.
